Master Construction Post Tension Barrel and Wedges:
Barrel and wedges are the two components required to hold the tendons or pretensioning wires tightly when it is pulled out for inducing tensile force. The Barrel will have tampered finish into which the wedges will get locked as the force increased.
Barrel: A cylindrical component fitted over a single prestressing strand at an anchorage, and that transfers the strand force to the anchor via tapered wedges located within its internal conical recess. A set of Barrel can be used with a momo-strand stressed tendon as an alternative to an anchor block.
Wedges: Tapered high-strength steel component(s) with internal serrations that grip and hold prestressing strands during and after tensioning.Three parts of wedges are placed around a strand and compress onto it as they are drawn into conical recesses in the anchorange during jack retraction.
